Too Good to be True is hands down one of my favorite contemporary romance novels, right up there with all the Susan Elizabeth Phillips books that I’ve devoured. Grace is a talented history teacher, and all-round wonderful person who dotes on her family, volunteers at the local nursing home, and loves her darling West Highland Terrier Angus McFangus. Her problem is that she’s been dumped by her fiancé just three weeks before her wedding, and now said ex-fiancé is dating her gorgeous little sister. Tired of the looks of pity from her rowdy relatives, and anxious for her little sister not to feel too guilty, Grace creates an imaginary boyfriend with the most sterling qualities. But not long after this paragon of virtue springs from her mind, Grace meets the hunky man next door. He’s brawny, good-looking, and even his name (Callahan O’Shea) makes her go weak in the knees… he seems perfect, but for one tiny flaw. He’s an ex-con, and Grace can’t seem to get over it. Will Grace stick with her imaginary too-good-to-be-true pediatric surgeon boyfriend, or will she be able to overcome her prejudices and misconceptions about Cal to finally find love? Filled with witty laugh-out-loud one-liners, and heart-breaking vignettes, Too Good to be True is a wonderful book and will be a great addition to anyone’s romance book library.
