Everybody’s favorite contemporary romance author Kristan Higgins is back with her latest book, Somebody to Love. It’s her usual mix of humor and heartbreak, with the heroine Parker Welles left high and dry after her father liquidates her trust fund just before he’s imprisoned for insider trading. Parker’s at a loss – she’s suddenly penniless after a lifetime of privilege, and she needs to find a way to support her five-year-old son Nicky. It’s not that Parker doesn’t have a job – she’s a very successful children’s author, but she’s always donated all her profits to a children’s charity because she’s had her trust fund to fall back on. Fortunately for Parker, her Aunt has left her a small cabin in Gideon’s Cove, Maine, that she hopes to restore and sell for a quick profit. She travels to Maine and is horrified to find that the cabin’s more like a shack, and in terrible disrepair. When her father’s attorney and right-hand man James Cahill turns up to help her with the restoration, she’s so relieved that she’s willing to put aside her animosity toward the man she’s always thought of as a mercenary opportunist. As Parker and James work together on the cabin, Parker starts to wonder if she’s misjudged James after all.
